X-Therma Innovates With Its Preservation Platform

X-Therma has developed a preservation platform for cells, tissues, organs, and regenerative medicines that leverages a proprietary peptoid that allows long-term subzero storage of biological materials. The company’s products include XT-Thrive, a DMSO-free cryopreservation media; XT-ViVo, an organ preservation solution; and TimeSeal, an organ transporter. The latter two products have received Breakthrough Device Designation from the FDA for an intended kidney preservation and storage time of up to 120 hours.

Xiaoxi (Sofie) Wei, PhD, co-founder and chief executive officer of X-Therma, decided to dedicate her life to improving transplantation at a young age, when her grandfather died awaiting a liver transplant. She spoke with Nephrology Times about X-Therma’s groundbreaking solutions.
