ABIM and MOC: The Epic Debate With Drs. Richard Baron and Aaron Goodman

There has been much discussion recently about the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) requirements implemented by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Many physicians, regardless of specialty, have been opposed to this certification, as it adds cost and burden and reduces patient care. The implementation prompted Dr. Aaron Goodman, of UC San Diego Health, to start a petition to end MOC. The petition has garnered tremendous support, with over 10,000 signatures in 2 weeks.

In response, Dr. Richard Baron, the president and CEO of ABIM, agreed to speak with Dr. Chadi Nabhan to address the concerns raised by physicians.
