Eric Singhi, MD, a thoracic medical oncologist at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, speaks about why it was important for The Oncology Brothers to hold an in-person event during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting.
Advancements in Oncology, held on Saturday, June 1, featured key insights on new lung cancer data presented at the annual meeting, in addition to panels on breast, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary cancers. The event focused on providing key updates for community oncologists, which was particularly important in the lung cancer setting, with multiple practice-changing updates being presented.
“It’s been really nice to see how we can not only take the findings that we’re learning about here at [the annual meeting] back to the academic setting, but also to the community setting, making sure that we’re enhancing education for everyone, for our patients, for the provider team,” Dr. Singhi said. “It’s so important to make sure that we get the word out and we really take these practice-changing studies back to where we are practicing.”
Dr. Singhi also spoke about the value of digital platforms in the world of medicine and oncology.
“I love using social media to connect,” he said. “It’s really [helping] providers connect with the patient voice, and within the provider community, it’s really bridging [the gap between] academics and the community setting. The Oncology Brothers have done a fantastic job with that.”
